Pump Up The Volume (Allan Moyle, 1990)

This is one of the most rebellious films that you can find out there, with a voice that can be heard to the end of the world. Pump Up The Volume is a movie that shows what true rebels are made of. With an incredible story, a character who really bewitches you with its charm and charisma, a low profile, shy guy who through the radio becomes a true satyr of humour and deadly crucial comments about the evils of his society, the film is a true poem of uncompromising character, of bravery, of accuracy, of inner power and true, untameable emotion. Pump Up The Volume is one of those hidden gems of the 90s decade that make us all proud for having lived that decade as teenagers and it is a true miracle to see that the movie hasn't aged not even a day, the issues that it is dealing with are still highly crucial. The pain and the sorrow of young people who are oppressed by their harsh environment is still an issue that touches us all and it is also something about the way that the movie is dealing with those issues. It has a very proud, clear and unspoiled voice, it has the power of the ones who don't speak much but when they do they lay all their cards on the fucking table. Pump Up The Volume is maybe one of the top three coming-of-age movies that we have seen, period and its charisma shines like the the fucking sun in the meadow, bringing a highly uplifting emotion to the spectator who really falls in love with this guy and his controversial methods. This is a movie that will follow you for the rest of your life, that is a referential film, a film that stays proudly unafraid of criticism and panning, a film that really inhales the evils of this world and exhales pure power, pure vigour, pure momentum, pure emotion that can fill a whole planet and can feed a whole continent.
