Sliver (Phillip Noyce, 1993)

Sliver is a bad film with a terrible and completely uninteresting thriller plot, boring sex scenes and a William Baldwin who should have won the Razzie award that was nominated for. The only exception to the horrible side of the movie is Sharon Stone, who tries to deliver an interesting performance as an insecure, fragile woman with a toxic marriage in her past. The film although poorly received by critics was a financial hit climbing at number 1 in the first week. Probably people rushed in the theatres to watch another version of Basic Instinct and the sex scenes with Sharon Stone. But truth says that Sliver is nothing like Basic Instinct. It is completely dumb, with an amazingly shitty plot that doesn't even have a climax and to put it more elegantly this is a movie that goes for a direct-to-video release. Sliver is from the movies that really make you wonder how this awful screenplay was sold and how much preposterous money did the screenwriter received. And after that there is absolute silence. Yes folks, that is a movie that you have nothing to say about. It is so genuinely uninteresting and memorably crappy that you find yourself that you have no words for it. There is only one thing that I 'd like to add and that is, stay away from it. It literally has nothing to offer. I think that this is a selection only for hardcore fans of Sharon Stone. And thankfully she is one reason for watching that dreadful movie. (Another would be if you are making a documentary or a thesis about how much money is spend in Hollywood while other people starve to death. That film certainly applies on your list.)
